SOCIAL NETWORKS – Be Yourself!
Author: Sanija Hasanić
Long gone is the time when social networks were an unknown and many clients skillfully or less skillfully use them in everyday communication with their consumers, i.e. clients.
Something I want to briefly touch upon are centralized and uniformed communications.
Let’s imagine we have a client; their name is XX. They may not belong on Facebook, but nonetheless focus their communication on that social network because headquarters said so.
Furthermore, headquarters also dictates the tone of the posts on XX’s Facebook page, the types of photographs or illustrations posted, as well as the frequency of posting. It dictates which posts are to be sponsored, i.e. boosted and the appearance of the communication from the outside looking in.
Some companies, in fact, don’t need Facebook or the extremely popular Instagram and that should be openly said.
And if the client is dying to be present, then it should be proposed that communication with fans or followers should be adjusted according to the culture they address, the nation to which they are speaking and the times they live in. An illustration which is a hit in Finland may not resonate in Croatia the same way etc.
Uniformity coupled with a single approach is not the right approach.
That’s why we have agencies for managing social networks. Those like us, PR agencies which also work within the digital sector, and specialized digital marketing agencies.
We watch what the public consumes. We know how to communicate with it and we exist so as to steer the communication in the appropriate way – to convey the fundamental message, respect the consumer/client, show them they are important to us and carefully adjust posted content to the relevant region and country.
Social networks are living organisms, more alive today than ever before… Use them, be open, show your attitude and who you are, and we guarantee that people will gravitate towards you, thus giving you a real follower base due to the fact that people like you, not because you bought them with a boosted post.
And, most importantly – be authentic. Your headquarters may have rules. But dig your feet in and persist on creating your own base of followers in the region you do business in who will gravitate towards you because you communicate with them the right way. After all, that’s why there are official websites and profiles. Use them accordingly. 😊
